What regenerating an AI draft does
Itiner can regenerate a trip draft. Today a regeneration replaces the current days, and the product is built around that.
The trade-off
An agent builds a trip, edits day 3, swaps a hotel, then asks the AI for a bigger change and regenerates. A regeneration builds a new draft and replaces the days of the current one. Edits made to the old days are not merged into the new draft.
Keeping an agent's edits through a redraft would need a way to tell an edit apart from untouched AI text and to merge the two. That is a harder problem than it looks, and Itiner does not do it today.
What to do about it
The practical advice is to regenerate first and edit second, so the work that follows a regeneration is never lost to a later one. The client portal and the PDF render from the saved trip, so the agency's branding is the same whichever draft is current.
Merging edits into a regenerated draft stays on the list of things we would like to build. We will say so here when it ships.
